Fall Fishing in Harpers Ferry. WVA



Date: 05 October 2014

Objective: A fun day on the Potomac River for Veterans from the Martinsburg VA Hospital Community Living Center and GOALS Program.

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Location: Potomac Terrace Development, Harper's Ferry, WVA

Event: The day will include spin casting and fly fishing from pontoon boats provided by
neighbors in the Potomac Terrace development. Small and large mouth bass,
tiger muskie, bluegill, and catfish can be found on this part of the Potomac
in spring, so there will be plenty of fish to catch! The location is across
from Harpers Ferry National Park and the C&O Canal path, so non-fishing vets
can relax and enjoy the scenery. A great lunch will be provided by The Q
Company of Leesburg, VA, serving delicious barbecue. 

What is provided?:

  • All Fishing Equipment for our Wounded Heroes
    • We typically have enough for family members also
  • Lunch for our Wounded Heroes
    • Provided by Company of Leesburg, VA, serving delicious barbecue. 
  • Shore and Boat Volunteers to show you the ropes of fishing the Potomac River

What should the Warrior and Family Members Bring?: 

  • A Camera - The Potomac is very scenic and historic. We can take a picture of your fish, and post it on our web site. 
  • Sun Block - The sun can be intense on the water. Be sure to use the appropriate SPF for your skin tone 
  • Polarized Sunglasses - Eyewear protects from the sun and from the wind
  • Attire - It's is always a good idea to wear loose fitting comfortable clothing. Call for weather conditions. A hat is a must…glare and warmth.
