Speaker Series on Leadership

Please join us for our next luncheon event to find out more about WHFP, build new relationships in the veteran community and to support our ongoing activities.

The Wounded Heroes Fishing Project (WHFP) was started by FishingCommunity.Org to create a safe environment to get our nation’s wounded, injured, and ill re-engaged with society.  The WHFP sponsors fishing/boating classes at local military medical centers and hosts monthly fishing trips for patients in military hospitals, transition battalions/regiments, and VA centers – not to mention a couple tournaments a year and supporting other similar organizations.  The WHFP is now trying to reach out to local and national businesses in a grass roots effort to get businesses and our transitioning wounded, injured, and ill together.  In order to gain awareness within the local community, we are instituting a speaker series at the Springfield Hilton.

Our Guest Speaker is:

Charles S. Abell
Executive Vice President, Policy and Government Affairs

Wounded Warrior Project

Topic:  "Leadership I learned from Two Brits and Two PhDs"

For the Audience

  • Come listen to leaders in our local community (Greater DC area) to learn what they lead and how they did it (good and bad).

  • Take away how they can apply these “lessons” to themselves but more importantly how do they take these “lessons” and apply them as teachers to our wounded, injured and ill so the WII can be successful.

Below is our first quote of the year from a warrior who caught his first fish and I just wanted to share it with you.

"Its small but I was happy. Thanks for your encouragement. These classes do mean a lot to us.
